10 Winter Trends: Velvet

 5. Velvet

Another trend this winter is velvet. It's feminine and soft and every piece made of it has a certain vintage feel. For the fall runway shows i have seen a lot of velvet dresses and suits. It looked so elegant and wonderful. I'm searching for velvet leggings for more than a year now and the only ones i found were in shops online. I hope i will be able to find a pair of leggings in this fabric before the end of winter. I created, another time, three looks to show how i would wear velvet in an outfit.

The first set i put together is with dark green velvet. The Balmain green-low-rise skinny velvet pants are original because of the details on the knees and i love the fact that it's high waisted. I wanted to created a casual look so i put Rag & Bone Adirondack hooded cardigan and it's going to make the look more ''lazy days'' style. You just have to put a white t-shirt under the cardigan. To create a perfect look, i see nothing better than black ankle boots.

This wine red backless pearly velvet dress is something we find a lot on the runway shows of fall/winter 2012. It has a vintage and chic look that will be perfect for a Christmas dinner party. I like the pearls that add details to the dress. I didn't want the outfit to be boring by pairing normal black pumps so i chose Dsquared2 amazing black heels. I'm in love with most of Dsquared2 shoes and these are an example of heels i like from them. I finally put a studded envelope clutch that fits with the look.

The final outfit i created is between the first and second look. Otherwise, it's elegant but at the same time the blue Mango degrade denim shirt makes the look less chic. Than to balance from edgy to chic, i put this River Island black velvet skater skirt that i really like. The faux suede ankle boots finish well the look if you want to put heels. I you don't want, than just put black shoes or boots.
