Different Fashion Style: Boyish

Boyish

In the Roaring Twenties, the boyish look started to appear. Woman borrowed clothes to their husband. Now a lot of men's clothes were adjusted and transformed for woman.

The fashion icon for the tomboy look is surely Marlene Dietrich. She's a German actress and a cabaret signer. In 1930, she showed up for the first time in black pants, tie, top hat-shaped and a cigarette in the hand. Not to be too masculine, she simply had a beautiful feminine makeup and curled her hair. Marlene became the supreme Hollywood icon of masculine/feminine.

To be consider as a girl who has a boyish look, you need to dress with three-piece suit, tuxedo jacket, vest, sailor sweather, knit tank top, rolled sleeves blouse, wide pleated pants, watch, fedora, tie, brogue shoes, messenger bag, etc. A good example for this look is the two outfit at the left. Clémence Poésy, a french actress, wear a polka dot blouse that she tucked in masculine boy pants. To lighten up the tomboy look, she put pretty black pumps. The second outfit is a full masculine look. First, her corde du roi orange blazer is instantly a man piece. Her dark blouse, pants and boots add another man touch. Only the sunglasses are feminine.

When i think of the boyish style, i always have in mind Alexa Chung. This TV host and British model is one of my fashion icon, i love every outfits she puts on. Sometimes, you can wear a very masculine look and still look pretty and feminine like the three-piece suit she wear for a special occasion. The red lipstick and the feminine heels makes the look more appropriate for a woman. Then on the other picture, she decided to wear an oversized khaki jacket paired with black jeans and a graphic tee. A perfect boyish look. Girls who have a tomboy style often have short and messy hair like Alexa Chung.
